Zach here, With new resources and inspirations from the 3D world. Today, I’ll share a cool Blender martial arts animation, an indie feature animation "Boys Go To Jupiter", and a stylized car game teaser. Let’s dive in. Amazing Mannequin Animation from P2DesignPierrick Picaut is a true animation sensei. He trained four of his new 3D mannequins to perform amazing combat animations in this fun video - and they’re killing it! They are uniquely designed to represent distinctive body types: Male, Female, Muscular Male, and a Plus Size Male. If you like the animation, you will have a chance to express that by voting for it for this year’s Suzanne Awards. That’s not all, because Pierrick announced that all these mannequins will soon be available for free to use for your personal animation projects (so you can also train your kung-fu moves). 🥋 Last Week to get Master Compositing in Blender 20% off!Our Early Bird sale for Daniel Nees’ Master Compositing in Blender course is ending next week. "Boys Go To Jupiter" - Blender-made Feature Film TrailerThis year, a Blender-made film ("Flow") won an Oscar, but other indie creators are also using it to create feature films. Julian Glander created this peculiarly stylized animated comedy film and has already won an Indie Memphis Film Festival Best Narrated Feature award, as well as a couple of other festival nominations. The animation style is very simple and minimalistic, but it’s aesthetically well-thought-out and consistent, just enough to get the mood and story across. The film was only shown in festivals so far, but it is now entering theatrical distribution in the US, and hopefully, it will also be available in other countries. "Cargo" - Game Teaser by THE LINE Animation StudioThe Line, one of the top London-based animation studios (known, for example, for the iconic animated videos they created for the band Gorillaz), has shared a teaser for their new game development project called "Cargo". Beautifully flat-shaded stylized animation is followed by a gameplay prototype that shows the visual style will translate directly into the game. The idea is about two smugglers who are escaping from a "job gone wrong" situation and have to carry their loot strapped on top of a tiny car. Recently, the Blender Studio also published a game, so I’m wondering if it’s a new trend for animation studios to dive into gamedev? Surely, The Line has been looking in this direction for some time now, as a few years ago, they released a funny little joke game called RedCarpetRampage about Leonardo DiCaprio running to grab an Oscar. They shared a making-of story video showing how it went viral as well. You can play it yourself here. (Warning! It’s fun, but almost impossible to win, and there’s a high danger of damaging your keyboard! 😁) That’s all from me today, have a great weekend, and till next time. ~Zach |

Hey Reader, Hair is one of those features that’s easy to overlook, but plays an important role in making a character feel truly real and alive. Character from Javier Benver “Wild Hair” By the time you reach character grooming, you’ve usually gone through sculpting, modeling, retopology, texturing & shading. Your initial energy and passion can start feeling low, and the temptation to rush your character's hair is real. But this is the very moment to slow down and lean in. Hair can be one of...
Hey Reader, Today I want to expand on the Master 3D Characters Part 3 update and specifically why we teach you to texture an entire character without leaving Blender. First, tools like Substance Painter are widely used for good reason, we are not agains it at all, it’s a industry standard powerful tool. But, it’s also valuable to stay in creative flow, inside one program like Blender. So you can move from sculpting, to modeling, to texturing, to lighting, without breaking your flow. That is...
