🚀 [Resources] Beautiful Animated Movie "Forevergreen", Free Mograph Tool, BCon Asia, and more...

Hey Reader,

Zach here,

With new inspiration and resources from the 3D world.

Today, we have a beautiful indie animation with a handcrafted feel, a tutorial on recreating a 2D stylized character in 3D, and news of the first-ever Blender Conference in Asia.

I’ll end with a free Mograph Tool straight from SouthernShotty.

Let’s dive in.

"Forevergreen" - Stunning Animation by an Independent Artists’ Collective

This animated short film wasn’t made by Disney, Sony, or any other industry giant. It was made "in free time" (and it took 5 years to make it 🤯) by a dedicated and passionate team of artists, who poured their hearts into a moving piece of art.

From the first frame, the film shows the love for the woodcarving craft (which is one of the director’s passions) that defines its hand-crafted look.

You can learn more about the making of this project from this video.

Make sure to watch it before November ends, as this is a time-limited streaming event on YouTube (till Nov 30th).

2D Character Recreated in 3D (and back to 2D)

Vertex Arcade recreated the Android Princess character from Glitch’s "Knights of Guinevere" in Blender.

In this video, he shares his process and lots of cool tricks and techniques on translating a 2D design into a 3D model, as well as blending 3D renders into a 2D animation setting seamlessly.

If you’d love to create your 3D characters, but this kind of fast overview looks like black magic to you, then I recommend checking out our Master 3D Characters in Blender course, where Jim Morren goes in-depth through a similar process, explaining it step by step.

First-ever official Blender Conference in Asia

Blender is making waves across the entire creative industries world, and the Blender Conference experience is no longer limited to the yearly meetup in Amsterdam.

After the first BCon in the USA last year, the time has finally come for Blender Conference Asia.

It will take place in December in Shenzen, China, so if you’re from that part of the world (or are planning a trip to China) you may want to attend.

You’ll find all the details here.

Free Mograph Tool from SouthernShotty

Southern Shotty made a cool new Mograph Array tool that can be used for all sorts of motion graphics animations, and what’s even more awesome, he shared it for free.

In this video, he demonstrates how to use this custom Array modifier to make a neat 'rotate and reveal' animation.

There’s also a paid Mograph Toolbox product available, with even more flexible tools and presets. This feels a lot like Cinema 4D brought straight into Blender.

That’s all from me today. Have a great weekend, and till next time.
