Zach here, With a new free tutorial, and a HUGE update for our Master 3D Characters in Blender course. Blender UV Unwrapping Made SimpleIf Blenders UV’s have intimidated you into sticking with procedural textures and generated mapping, you are not alone. But that changes today. Jim Morren has created a fun and beginner-friendly tutorial covering UV fundamentals in Blender. We set out to create the ultimate UV tutorial for Blender, that helps you actually enjoy the UV process, and I believe Jim nailed it. Master 3D Characters in Blender Major UpdateThe second part for Master 3D Characters in Blender is now live, including 6 new chapters, 70 new lessons with 12+ hrs run time added to the course. This means we’re nearing the final release for the course, and since there is now much more content, the 20% Early Bird Discount will be available for only two more weeks. What’s Included in the Update? If you have already taken the course and finished Part 1, you’ve learned to sculpt your entire 3D character in Blender. For Part 2 of the course, we go over the most important workflows in getting your character ready for rigging, texturing and animation, by covering retopology, UV unwrapping, adding eyes and mouth, clean up and optimization. You’ll master the skills that separate the beginners from the pros in 3D character creation. RetopologyYou’ll first learn the fundamentals of topology, and then retopologize the body of your character. So you understand how to create proper geometry that bends correctly for rigging and animation. Then you’ll learn where to get some useful base meshes from the Blender Foundation, for the eyes, teeth and tongue of your character. Making sure that the eyelids and inside the mouth interact cleanly with the model, making it all rigging and animation ready.

For clothing, we’ll cover more topology basics that applies to layered geometry. We’ll cover how to avoid having the characters’ geometry poke through clothing geometry, and make the folds bend realistically.
Then we move on to retopologizing the jetpack and UV unwrapping it. Applying everything we have learned, and addressing some final issues and situations that come up with the jetpacks unique shapes.
At the end of Part 2, we’ll do some final adjustments. Optimizing the texture sets, adding nails, buttons and optimizations to the eyes & mouth, zippers, boots and the jetpack.
Then you’ll have finished Part 2 of the course, which is quite an achievement, and quite a skill set you’ll end up with. 💪
Now that Part 2 is out, Jim is working on the texturing/shading chapters next, which we plan to released in a couple of months.
Now is the perfect time to Master 3D Characters in Blender, with this massive update and the 20% Early Bird Discount.
