🌇 [New Course] Master Urban Environments in Blender

Hey Reader,

Zach here,

Today, we’re proud to finally launch our new Master Urban Environments course for Blender, taught by Cov Phillips.

Dense urban cities can be so immersive and inspiring. You can wander around for hours and still find strange and interesting places, from tall shiny buildings down to dirty alleyways.

But it can be quite overwhelming to attempt to do in 3D, with all the big variety of elements, from detailed buildings down to the trash on the street. Where do you even start?

Our goal, when creating the Master Urban Environments course, was to make an all-in-one resource that teaches you step-by-step how to create your very own epic city environments in Blender, with handy workflows that you can apply to any urban 3D project.

Here you can watch our overview video on everything you’ll learn from the course:

Over the span of this 29-hour course, you will begin with the fundamentals of crafting a compelling story and concepting a vivid world for your environment.

From there, we will delve into developing the foundations of our city, starting with basic 3D primitives and gradually turning them into high-resolution models and incorporating intricate details.

You will learn techniques for efficiently creating UV maps for your models, creating realistic textures and layered, weathered materials.

In the end, you will have a rendered animation showcasing your own intriguing urban environment.

Additionally, everyone that joins the course during the first month after release (till March 10th, 2024), will get a special gift.

You will get an exclusive Robot Blender File, with a simple rig, color variations and animation presets, that you can use to easily populate your urban environments, bringing them even more to life.

After enrolling, you will get lifetime access to the course (one-time payment, no subscription) and future updates included.

Your satisfaction is guaranteed with our 30-day 100% money-back guarantee.

After working on this course for over a year, we're super excited to finally share it with you, and we can't wait to see your urban environments coming to live.

FAQ

Do I have to pay a monthly subscription for the course?

No, it is a one-time-payment, with future updates included.

Is this course suitable for beginners?

The course is mostly taught in a step-by-step approach, so even beginners should be able to follow along. Nevertheless, we won't cover the Blender basics in this course, so a fundamental understanding of Blender is required. We highly recommend taking our comprehensive Blender Launch Pad course first. For the minimum Blender knowledge you need, we recommend watching our free Blender Beginners course.

Do I need a powerful computer for this course?

To have fun with this course, a medium to high-end computer is recommended. Check the Blender system requirements here and a Blender PC build guide here for more info. Additionally, we have specific lessons on optimizing the 3D scene, so that mid-end computer can handle it smoothly.

Is the final animation rendered in Cycles or Eevee?

In this course, we use Cycles for a more cinematic and realistic look.

What tools are used in the course?

For keeping this course accessible, we're only using free tools, mainly Blender, and (optional) DaVinci Resolve, for color grading and compositing.

Can I export the scene to game engines?

We currently don't cover exporting the scenes to game engines in this course. You might be able to bake all the resulting textures to work in game engines, however, we are also using many Blender specific workflows, that might not be able to be exported.

Can I download the course?

After enrolling, you get immediate access to the course, which you can conveniently stream online. In order to download the course, you need to request access. You will find a request form inside the course.

The USD exchange rate in my country makes it hard to purchase the course, are there any options?

If you're from a country where the exchange rates from your local currency to USD are too high for your situation, or if you are a student/teacher, you can request a discount. We don’t want creative people to feel limited just by the location they live in. Simply reply to this email to request further info.

I have another question, where to ask?

Simply hit reply and send us your request.
