🚀 [Resources] Every 3D Concept Explained, Default Cube Animation and more...

Hey Reader,

Zach here,

With fresh news and inspiration from the 3D world.

Today I’ll share a great tutorial video on basic 3D concepts, Martin Klekner’s new Heroes of Bronze Teaser, and a fun animation about the Default Cube.

Finally, I’ll share the latest addition to our CG Boost Hall of Fame.

Let’s dive in.

The ‘ABC’ of 3D Graphics - Tutorial

3D artists have a whole special vocabulary that is sometimes hard to understand if you’re just starting out. This great video by Digitalist explains basic terms and concepts in 3D computer graphics clearly.

If you ever wondered what NURBS are, what it means to extrude, or what makes geometry manifold, you’ll find all the answers you need, visualized with beautiful motion graphics.

Heroes of Bronze - New Painterly Animation

Martin Klekner’s experiments with NPR rendering, painterly textures, and Blender’s Grease Pencil gave birth to this amazing teaser animation.

It has been premiered at this year’s Blender Conference during Martin’s Lightning Talk, and got the ovation it deserved.

Martin not only teaches cinematic fundamentals in our Master Cinematic Storytelling in Blender course, but he also practices what he preaches in his work. A pure joy to watch!

Defaulted - Short Animation about Blender’s Default Cube

Big Tooth Studio (who also run The VFX Process Podcast) made a really fun video about the legendary Default Cube.🧊

The animation shows that the mysterious object (that every Blender user encounters when opening the program) cannot be destroyed by any craft that we possess. That is, unless you’re the almighty user who can do whatever he wants with it. 😁

The Hall of Fame has a new arrival (and awaits you!)

This amazing ‘Metal Gear Solid’ inspired animation by Simon Salord was the winner in our Inspiring Moments challenge (some time ago), and we’ve just introduced it into our Hall of Fame (a gallery of the most impressive artworks made by our community members).

I hope you’ll enjoy watching these great artworks and get inspired to create something awesome (so you can enter the Hall of Fame in full glory 🫅).

That’s all from me today. Have a great weekend, and till next time.

~Zach

Heroes of Bronze - Magnificent Bastards

Hey Reader, Today we get to Interview Martin Klekner to talk about storytelling, the changing creative landscape, and why we decided to expand our Master Cinematic Storytelling Course with new lessons focused on Blender's Video Editor. If you don’t know Martin, he's the creator of the Heroes of Bronze Short Film, and has been pushing the envelope in CG Filmmaking in Blender for years. He’s also the creator of the CG Boost Master Cinematic Storytelling course and has his own YouTube channel...

Hey Reader, Today, we’ll start a bit differently, by sharing a message and a call for help from one of our fellow YouTube creators whose channel has been hijacked. Film Stop YouTube Channel Hacked - Let’s try to help! You may have come across Quinn Collier’s TY channel, Film Stop, and his Blender-related content. We wanted to share this deeply disturbing story about the hijacking of his channel and Google's tone-deaf reaction. They don’t do much to help Quinn regain control of what was a...

Hey Reader, When we launched our Master Cinematic Storytelling course, the goal was to provide a film school for 3D artists. In the course, we cover how to create cinematic shots by teaching filmmaking fundamentals like color, composition, lighting, camera language, sequences, and more. But what about making an actual 3D short film? More than a cool sequence of shots, but a real story with a beginning, middle, and end, all created inside Blender. And not just the visuals either, but editing,...
