🚀 [Resources] Free Blender Workshop + Stylized Character Workflow + More 3D News

Hey Reader,

We are back with a fresh dose of news, inspiration, and resources from the 3D world.

Today, we have a full 3D character creation process in Blender time-lapse, a funny animated series about bugs, and finally, a free workshop on painterly 3D creations in Blender.

Let’s dive right in.

Stylized 3D Character Creation in Blender (Time-lapse)

As we’re full steam into 3D character creation after our latest texturing/grooming update to Jim Morren’s course, we wanted to give you some extra inspiration and resources from other creators.

This cute character creation time-lapse from FlyCat quite well aligns with many techniques Jim teaches in his course.

Watching different artists’ workflows can be very beneficial (especially when you’ve already dipped your toes in the process and hit some obstacles). It can show you little hints or alternative ways to tackle certain tasks.

If you want a more in-depth explanation of them, now you can get our 3D character creation course for Blender, 20% off.

"Minuscule" - Funny Animated Series About Bugs

This animated series isn't new, but it was recently released on YouTube so that you can watch it for free. It was produced by a French Studio Futuricon using a clever combination of real locations shot in camera (similarly to the famous "Microcosmos" movie) and 3D animated cartoony bug characters.

Mixing nature documentary style with funny animated narration resulted in an immersive, comic, and, at the same time, dramatic effect. There’s not even a single line of dialogue (just sound effects), yet the characters feel full of life, and their interactions and the storytelling are intense.

This shows that making film and animation is not just about using the "right tools" but rather using them creatively and with intent. We hope this inspires you to make your own experiments (or at least give you a good laugh 😁).

The Painterly Path to 3D - Free Blender Workshop by Wacom

If you want to create stylized, painterly scenes in Blender, this may be a great jumpstart for you. Wacom is hosting a free workshop with artist Iris Muddy to guide you through her process and inspire you to create your own 2D/3D works in Blender.

The workshop is divided into 4 sessions on consecutive Saturdays, starting April 25, 2026.

That’s all for today. Have a great weekend, and until next time.
