Today, we’ll start a bit differently, by sharing a message and a call for help from one of our fellow YouTube creators whose channel has been hijacked. Film Stop YouTube Channel Hacked - Let’s try to help! You may have come across Quinn Collier’s TY channel, Film Stop, and his Blender-related content. We wanted to share this deeply disturbing story about the hijacking of his channel and Google's tone-deaf reaction. They don’t do much to help Quinn regain control of what was a major part of his livelihood. We feel part of his story, as we were just about to collaborate on some cool content when the hacking attack happened, and as YouTube creators ourselves, we deeply sympathize with Quinn. We hope that spreading this message through as many channels as possible may help (perhaps you know someone who works at Google or has a large enough YouTube audience, who can push the needle and get their support to take action). Now on to more positive stuff. We’ll start with a brand new Master Cinematic Storytelling chapter by Martin Klekner. We also have a touching cartoon made with Grease Pencil, a tutorial on animation from Pierrick Picaut, and a Procedural Village Generator for Blender to share. Let’s dive right in. Master Cinematic Storytelling in Blender UpdateWe’re really excited about the newly added chapter to our Master Cinematic Storytelling Course. If you’ve ever wanted to make your short films in Blender but all the tutorials just focused on how to make a shot or build a 3D scene, without touching on how to put together a coherent shot sequence that tells a story, we have good news for you! This update adds the missing piece of the filmmaking puzzle and focuses on using Blender’s revamped Video Sequence Editor as your centre of command. It’s a chance to go from just ‘doing 3D in Blender’ to becoming the director of the short film you’ve always dreamed of. Martin shares some of what’s inside the new chapter in this free YouTube video. To celebrate the release of this update, the course is 20% off until June 4th, 2026, 23:59 CEST 20% Coupon Code: SHORTFILM20
‘Lost + Refund’ - Fun Animation Made with Grease PencilWhen Blender’s Grease Pencil turned from a simple annotation tool to a full-blown creative 2D/3D machine, we knew it was going to unleash a plethora of cool animations. Koffee Kat ‘Lost and Refund’ is exactly that: a beautifully designed and animated, hilarious cartoon made in Blender. What’s super-impressive is that it was produced in just 3 months by a small team! 🤯 You can check out how it was made and get to know the creator from this interview. How to Use Blender’s Breakdowner Tool with Pierrick PicautMaking a great animation takes more than just finding a few key poses and letting the computer do the rest. It takes deliberate tweaking and lots of tiny, subtle decisions that can transform a rough blockout into something that feels alive. Luckily, Blender comes with a handy Breakdowner tool that makes it much easier, and there’s no one more competent to explain how it works than Pierrick Picaut. Did we mention he shares all this knowledge for free? You can learn it all in this video. Ancient Village Generator for BlenderIf you’ve ever modeled a vast scene, requiring many assets in Blender by hand, you can truly appreciate the value of this Procedural Ancient Village Generator. While there’s nothing wrong with deep diving into 3D modeling by hand, and it can be very educational and satisfying, it can also be very time-consuming. Now, instead of spending countless hours creating an ancient village for your animation, you can just scatter the buildings with this Geo Nodes setup and focus your energy on telling that immersive story taking place in these southern surroundings. Get the Procedural Ancient Village Generator here (affiliate link) That’s all for today. Have a great weekend, and till next time. Jarosław, Zach & Alan (the CG Boost Newsletter Team) |

Hey Reader, Today we get to Interview Martin Klekner to talk about storytelling, the changing creative landscape, and why we decided to expand our Master Cinematic Storytelling Course with new lessons focused on Blender's Video Editor. If you don’t know Martin, he's the creator of the Heroes of Bronze Short Film, and has been pushing the envelope in CG Filmmaking in Blender for years. He’s also the creator of the CG Boost Master Cinematic Storytelling course and has his own YouTube channel...
Hey Reader, When we launched our Master Cinematic Storytelling course, the goal was to provide a film school for 3D artists. In the course, we cover how to create cinematic shots by teaching filmmaking fundamentals like color, composition, lighting, camera language, sequences, and more. But what about making an actual 3D short film? More than a cool sequence of shots, but a real story with a beginning, middle, and end, all created inside Blender. And not just the visuals either, but editing,...
