Today we have an inspiring stylized short made in Blender, an in-depth breakdown of the ‘Noxious’ short film, and an Anniversary Sale from ToAnimate. Before we continue, a quick reminder that our CG Boost 20% Off Summer Sale ends today (23:59 CEST), so don’t miss it! 🏖️ Now, let’s dive right in. ‘Gym Anxiety’ - Stylized Blender Short FilmOur team member Jarosław says this one hits him personally, as his first day at a gym felt almost exactly like this short film 😳. If you ever felt like this: lost and anxious about every next step, afraid to make a mistake and embarrass yourself in the eyes of ‘the experienced’, you know what it’s like. ‘Gym Anxiety’ was made in Blender by a bunch of animation students, and it delivers the emotion brilliantly. But don’t worry! The ending brings some hope. You feel overwhelmed like this when you start learning a new skill in Blender or making a new project. A helping hand from someone who’s been exactly where you are now and made it can make all the difference in the world. We hope our team can be ‘that friendly guide’ for you. Breakdown Video from the creator of “Noxious”We shared the amazing ‘Noxious’ short film by Kay Hilman in a previous newsletter. Now, thanks to this breakdown video, we can take a deep dive into his creation process and understand the creative decisions and technical workflows he used in the production. Kay also shares his personal story about making this film as a graduation project, and how he almost buried it on his hard drive. Luckily for us all, he came out of this victoriously with a little help from his friends. One of them, who helped to make the score for the film, explains the ideas behind the music that enhance the emotional impact of the story. If you’re interested in the technical details of Kay’s pipeline, you can also watch this video, where he shares more details of his projection mapping, grease pencil details, and compositing techniques.
