Zach here, With a new dose of inspiration and resources from the 3D world. Today I’ll start with a quick reminder that our Cubic Worlds update discount ends today! We’ve also started a new 3D challenge, and so has Pwnisher. Next, I’ll share Polyfjord’s Robot rigging breakdown and an epic anime sword fight made in Blender. Let’s dive in. Last chance to get updated Cubic Worlds $10 offOur Cubic Worlds discount is ending today (February 6th, 2026, 23:59 CET). Coupon code: CW10 👉 Enroll in the Cubic Worlds course here As we’re very much in a cubic mood, we’ve also launched a new: CG Boost Cubic Worlds Challenge!Join our Cubic Worlds Challenge. It’s all about creating a low-poly Cubic Worlds-style render or animation (10 seconds). There are some cool prizes to win and a lot of fun guaranteed! You have 4 weeks to work on your submission; the deadline is March 5th, 2026 (16:00 CET). Read more about the Cubic Worlds challenge here New Pwnisher’s 3D Challenge: "Dream Sequence"February is also the time for another Pwnisher’s 3D Challenge. This time, the theme revolves around music and animating a "Dream Sequence" to a techno beat. Timing is at the core of both music and animation, so if you’re looking to hone your animation skills, give it a go! The topic is open to all creative interpretations as long as you follow the simple rules. You can make almost anything, from abstract concert visuals to realistic storytelling animations. Cartoony, Low Poly, or Grease Pencil - the style and sophistication level is up to you, so that anyone can join the fun at any level of Blender skill. Polyfjord’s 3D Robots BreakdownLooks like Robots are back on the menu for Polyfjord! He made a cool breakdown video of three bot designs with unique mechanical rigging features. As usual, he explains his workflows and techniques in a fun and engaging way, making it look simple and accessible. You might say: "When Polyfjord shows it, it looks easy, but when I try to do it, everything just falls apart." I get that feeling. I know it takes more than a single YouTube tutorial to really get into making 3D robots. To help you on your journey, our in-house Master of Robots, Louis, made an entire Robotic Planet course about this topic. Epic Anime Sword Fight in Blender by Dillon GooThere’s a lot of great art themes coming from Japan, but Anime and Samurai Sword Fights are a truly explosive combo! Dillon Goo (creator of Goo Engine - a Blender fork dedicated to anime NPR style) has made this amazing animation for the Arknights game. Although nothing can beat Studio Ghibli’s classic hand-drawn magic, this is getting really close to bringing some of its spirit into 3D. If you want to test the Goo Engine for yourself, you can download it from their Patreon (if you support them with a 5$ monthly tier). That’s all from me today. Have a great weekend, and until next time. ~Zach |
