Hey Reader,

Zach here, with another round of useful and inspiring CG and Blender related resources.

How I created a Short Film in Blender (Breakdown)

In my new video I show you how I created the (really short) short film "Family Trip", fully created in Blender of course.

This is a breakdown video, where I show how the scene was assembled, how the terrain, the animated water, the vegetation and the flying birds were created. Also, I give a brief look at the car rig, the animation and the final steps to finish this short film. It was a ton of fun to put this video together, hope you will enjoy it! 😁

Btw. this animation is based on the workflows I teach in my recently updated Cubic Worlds course for Blender. You can currently get it with 20% discount till July 29th (23:59 CEST).

The Future of Hair Grooming in Blender

Blender 3.3 will have a new hair system for hair/fur grooming. It looks very fun and intuitive to use compared to what we had before.

Check out the video above, which gives you a good overview of how it works. Also, you can read this article to learn more.

VOLTA - Blender Short

The young artist William Landgren is constantly creating fantastic shorts made with Blender.

His latest creation "VOLTA" has such a high density of visual content in each frame, you can really see that he paid attention to every detail. I especially like the vibrating cloth simulation at the end, and the sound design is also top-notch.

Last but not least, we recently hosted another fun livestream on YouTube, where we critiqued 20 submissions of our last City in the Sky 3D art challenge. The recording of the livestream is now available.
