We're back to our bi-weekly newsletter schedule today, with a new tutorial from Jim Morren on quickly posing your sculpts. Next, we’ll share an impressively realistic space-themed animation and a new photogrammetry (making photo-scanned 3D assets) course from Poly Haven. Let’s dive straight in. Pose Your 3D Sculptures Quickly with Jim MorrenHave you ever been in a spot with your 3D character sculpted in Blender, ready to show it to the world, but the pose was just a lifeless A- or T-pose that evoked no emotion? In this video, Jim will show you a quick-and-dirty hack to pose your character and even make it animated. It’s a great way to breathe more life into how you present your sculpts, without going too deep into retopology, rigging, and animation. If you want to dive deeper into 3D character creation with Jim, we recommend his fantastic Master 3D Characters in Blender course. ‘Longing Home’: Realistic Animation in BlenderRealistic CG humans are extremely hard to pull off without falling into the uncanny valley, especially in animation. Futhark Studios has created an immersive, realistic space-travel animation that really draws you in (even though a few details give away the ‘computer-generated’ origins). Amazing lighting, texturing, and camera work, combined with great storytelling (building up from a cozy beginning to a disturbingly cold ending), make it a true cinematic experience. We think this may be one of the strongest contenders for this year’s Suzanne Awards at the Blender Conference (coming up in less than three weeks). You can pick your favorite animations in the contest and give them your vote here. Making 3D Scanned Assets - New Course from Poly HavenWe, 3D artists, are always hungry for quality assets for our projects. What if you could make them yourself whenever you need them? Poly Haven has just released a new course that will teach you exactly that. How to turn your camera and computer into your personal 3D asset production pipeline. Rob Tuytel (the course instructor) knows this process inside out, as he created many of Poly Haven’s assets using this method, so you get to learn straight from a top-tier professional. And it costs only 39$! 🤯 Get Poly Haven’s Photogrammetry course here (affiliate link) If you want to use all Poly Haven's assets directly inside Blender, you can also check out their neat add-on: Get the Poly Haven's Asset Browser here (affiliate link) That’s all from us today. Have a great weekend, and till next time. Jarosław & Zach (the CG Boost Newsletter Team) |
