Zach here, Today, I’ll share five of our most popular quick-tip tutorials from the last month. Each video is prepared by our course instructors in a fun and simple way so, that you can get the most out of it in less than 60 seconds. Let’s dive in. Tip 1: Boost Your Rigs' Performance with Louis du Mont Complex rigs can sometimes cause headaches with their viewport performance. Here, Louis shows how to improve a hard surface rigs' performance by using parenting instead of weight painting. Tip 2: Creating Depth Maps for Subsurface Scattering with Jim MorrenDepth Maps are a great way to add a realism to subsurface scattering on organic models. In this short tip video, Jim shares a quick way to create them in Blender using the Ambient Occlusion node. Tip 3: Use Sculpt Mode as an Edit Mode Extension with Zach ReinhardtIf you think Sculpt Mode and Edit Mode are designed for completely different things, take a look at this tip from Zach, where he shows how Sculpt Mode can be used to speed up your modeling workflow. Tip 4: Don't Use Multiple Composition Guides at Once with Martin KleknerThough it might be tempting to use as many guides as possible to improve your composition, this may lead to quite the opposite result. Martin explains why generally it's good to stick to just one type of guide per shot, and which ones are good for specific scenarios. Tip 5: Using Linked Duplicate to Easily Modify a Rotated Object with Zach ReinhardtPerhaps you've come across the issue when you're modeling something complex, and want to modify a part that's already been moved and rotated. What makes it difficult is that you cannot use the general viewport axis, as they're misaligned with the object's transforms. Zach shows a quick and easy workaround by cleverly using a linked duplicate of the object and resetting its Location and Rotation. I hope these help you on your creative journey! Here you can also find more of our short videos. ~Zach. |
