This update has been a long time coming, and we're excited to share that we’ve just launched Part 3 of our Master 3D Characters Course. This update includes several new chapters of advanced texturing, shading, and hair grooming workflows, all inside Blender. During the research of this course we realized that there are many good, and even great, character courses out there, but most of them get just one or two subjects right. For example, sculpting and modeling may be strong, but texturing or hair often doesn’t reach the same quality level. And courses that do cover the full character pipeline often require enrolling in full programs, or jumping between multiple expensive tools, adding complexity and cost. We also experienced firsthand why this happens: 3D characters are hard! They require combining multiple disciplines at a high level. Many artists have whole jobs focusing on just one area like sculpting, clothing or grooming. Because of this, a common issue with many courses is the final result. While they can be great stepping stones, they often don’t reach a level that feels truly portfolio or film-ready without additional learning elsewhere. And while creating Part 3, we often asked ourselves: why is this taking so long? The answer kept being that we set out to create a full AAA-quality character workflow entirely inside Blender, using free tools. We're excited to share that we believe we achieved just that. To celebrate the launch of this major update, the full course is available 20% off until May 7th 2026 - 23:59 CEST. After that, the price will increase to reflect the added content and value, making this is a great time to join if you’re serious about creating 3D characters in Blender. 20% Coupon Code: TEXTURE20
Overview of the UpdateWe start with clean shader blockouts for the body, clothing, and props to establish colors and material direction. From there, we use vertex painting and baking (AO, pointiness, depth) to build realistic surface detail, starting with the body. We then explore procedural workflows and baking textures for the eyes. Next, we move into PBR workflows for fabrics, leather, and hard surfaces, creating wear, scratches, and grunge. You’ll also learn how to build node groups for modular, reusable setups. And finally, we cover hair and grooming using Blender’s hair GeoNodes for eyebrows, eyelashes, and hairstyles. By the end, you’ll have a fully render-ready character, optimized and fit for rigging or exporting into other projects. 👉 Check out the full course and update here It’s exciting to finally offer a complete, studio-quality character creation course entirely inside Blender. Covering anatomy, sculpting, modeling, UVs, retopology… and now texturing, shading, and grooming. A complete pipeline to help you craft characters that truly feel alive. “The definition of superb animation is that each character on the screen makes you believe it is a thinking being.”

Hey Reader, Today we get to Interview Martin Klekner to talk about storytelling, the changing creative landscape, and why we decided to expand our Master Cinematic Storytelling Course with new lessons focused on Blender's Video Editor. If you don’t know Martin, he's the creator of the Heroes of Bronze Short Film, and has been pushing the envelope in CG Filmmaking in Blender for years. He’s also the creator of the CG Boost Master Cinematic Storytelling course and has his own YouTube channel...
Hey Reader, Today, we’ll start a bit differently, by sharing a message and a call for help from one of our fellow YouTube creators whose channel has been hijacked. Film Stop YouTube Channel Hacked - Let’s try to help! You may have come across Quinn Collier’s TY channel, Film Stop, and his Blender-related content. We wanted to share this deeply disturbing story about the hijacking of his channel and Google's tone-deaf reaction. They don’t do much to help Quinn regain control of what was a...
Hey Reader, When we launched our Master Cinematic Storytelling course, the goal was to provide a film school for 3D artists. In the course, we cover how to create cinematic shots by teaching filmmaking fundamentals like color, composition, lighting, camera language, sequences, and more. But what about making an actual 3D short film? More than a cool sequence of shots, but a real story with a beginning, middle, and end, all created inside Blender. And not just the visuals either, but editing,...
