Zach here, With two new YouTube videos from our CG Boost instructors: Daniel Nees, about our upcoming Blender compositing course and Jim Morren, with tips on making 3D Character creation more fun. I also have some Grease Pencil inspirations for you and "Clay Pencil" - a cool Geometry Nodes group for generating 3D meshes from Grease Pencil. Let’s dive in. New Blender Compositing Course coming soonA new "Master Compositing in Blender" course is coming to CG Boost December 20th (just before Christmas). Our instructor Daniel Nees (who has been working in high-end film production as a Compositing Artist) introduces what the course will contain and why you should be excited to learn to use Blender's "hidden" superpower. Daniel starts with simple exercises with rendered footage and adding effects with the compositor. Then he goes over more advanced features like render passes, motion tracking, and color grading to create complex, stunning VFX shots. This course is a real deep dive into the techniques used in the professional film industry to enhance and mix CGI and real-world video footage. Watch the overview video here Workflow Tips for 3D Character CreationJim Morren (our Blender 3D Character course author) brings you a bunch of workflow tips for 3D character creation that he wished he knew when he started. If you’re a beginner 3D artist, this video will be a great jump-start into an effective workflow for creating 3D characters. Even as a more intermediate artist, you will surely find some useful techniques, tips, and hacks to boost (can you count how many times Jim uses the word in the tutorial?) your character creation process. Strap your seat belts and launch into the creative space with Captain Jim and Space Frog. "House of Chores" - Blender Studio’s showcase for the new Grease PencilBlender Studio has released a breakdown video of a beautiful, animated diorama project "House of Chores" created by the artists working in the studio, inspired by a unique game "Machinarium". The scene was a testing ground for all the new features of the new Grease Pencil introduced in Blender 4.3, including the ability to modify Grease Pencil objects using Geometry Nodes. The video shows the whole creative process with comments from the artists involved. It’s an inspiring way of getting familiar with what the new improvements make possible. Clay Pencil - a new way of animating with Grease PencilDaniel Martinez Lara (founder of PepeSchoolLand animation school and one of the key people behind the whole Blender Grease Pencil project) has just released a demo video showing a completely new workflow for cartoony 3D animation driven by 2D Grease Pencil drawings. All of this is made possible with the new features of Blender 4.3 that allow Geometry Nodes to interact with Grease Pencil objects. You can test this yourself using the node group (Called ‘Clay Pencil’) created by Daniel and playing with the provided demo files (including the cool cowboy animation). I can’t wait to see what the Blender community creates with this amazing new tool! Watch the tutorial & download the demo files here That’s all from me today, have an amazing week and till next time. ~Zach |
