We are back with a fresh dose of inspiration and resources from the 3D world. Today we’ll start with a reminder that our Robotic Planet sale ends today, we’ll share a breakdown of a cartoony Mug animation by Louis du Mont and an intricately woven motion graphic by Albin Merle. Finally, we’ll share a faster-than-ever Dust Particles generator from Gleb Alexandrov. Let’s dive right in. Last Chance to get Robotic Planet 20% offOur CG Boost’s 7th Birthday Sale for Robotic Planet ends today, so don’t miss the opportunity to grab it 20% cheaper! If you’d like to try making robots in Blender first, check out our free Blender Robot Creation for Beginners course. "The Mug" Blender Animation BreakdownLouis du Mont (Robotic Planet Instructor) has a secret formula for making incredibly cool and expressive little creatures out of simple objects, such as an ordinary tea mug. He’s also very generous and shares his secrets with us all freely in this breakdown video. It’s a goldmine of creative tips and hacks from concept design to rigging and animation. What we love about Louis’ approach is the problem-solving attitude that allows him to find simple solutions that work (regardless of whether they’re "the right way" to do things). Even with years of experience, staying open-minded and ready to experiment and just have fun with your projects is the greatest recipe for success. Dynamic Shirt Weaving Mograph made in BlenderAlbin Merle, a motion designer working in Blender, created this spectacular animation of weaving threads that dynamically build up, becoming a full polo shirt. He used all the power of Geometry Nodes to generate every curve in the knitted shirt (you can even download the Blender project here to zoom in and see it for yourself 👚). These kinds of animations were usually done in Houdini, but we’re seeing more and more great Blender projects lately, both artistic and commercial. What a time to be a Blenderhead! 😀 Easy Dust, Embers, and Moths for BlenderDust Particles+ is a flexible Geometry Nodes setup designed by Gleb Alexandrov to easily add all kinds of floating particles (like Embers, Moths, or Dust) to your 3D scenes. Everyone knows adding moths to a render gives +100 to awesomeness! 😉 The recent update to version 1.3 brings significant optimisation to its performance. Get Dust Particles+ 1.3 here (affiliate link) That’s all for today. Have a great weekend, and until next time. Jarosław, Zach & Alan (the CG Boost Newsletter Team) |
